Hôm nay nước Nga chính thức kỷ niệm 50 ngày sinh nhà thơ Boris Ryzhy. Anh sinh ngày 8/9/1974 trong một gia đình trí thức tại Chelyabinsk vùng Ural nhưng từ 1980 chuyển đến sống tại Sverdlovsk (khi Liên Xô tan rã đổi thành Yekaterinburg). Học hết phổ thông anh đi học đại học mỏ địa chất, lấy vợ sinh con, làm nghiên cứu sinh, đã có 18 bài viết nghiên cứu về vỏ trái đất và các cơn địa chấn.
Boris Ryzhy bắt đầu viết thơ năm 14 tuổi (1988), cũng năm đó giành chức vô địch Quyền anh thành phố. Bài thơ đầu tiên đăng báo năm 1992. Anh được coi là “Nhà thơ xô viết cuối cùng” hay là “Nhà thơ thời cải tổ”. Anh rất nổi tiếng trong giới trẻ Nga, nhưng cũng thống nhất được người trẻ và người già thông qua những bài thơ đầy nhạc tính và trong sáng kỳ lạ của mình. Thơ anh kết hợp được thực tế nghiệt ngã với sự âu yếm, dịu dàng. Mặc dù được nhiều người yêu mến và kính trọng nhưng ở tuổi 27 Boris Ryzhy đã treo cổ tự tử, theo gương nhiều nhà thơ lớn Nga trong quá khứ. Anh để lại mảnh giấy ghi dòng chữ: “Tôi yêu các anh. Không có những kẻ ngốc”.
Anh đã giành được nhiều giải thưởng văn chương uy tín, trong đó có giải “Anti-Booker”, “Cành cọ phương Bắc” (trao sau khi mất), và đã viết hơn nghìn bài thơ trong cuộc đời ngắn ngủi của mình. Thơ anh đã được dịch sang tiếng Anh, Ý, Đức, Hà Lan và Serbia. Hiện nay thơ Boris Ryzhy tiếp tục được phổ biến rộng rãi, thu hút sự chú ý của các giáo viên, học sinh và bạn yêu thơ trên toàn thế giới.
Nhiều hoạt động đã được tổ chức nhân dịp kỷ niệm 50 năm sinh Boris Ryzhy như chiếu phim tiểu sử về anh (có hai phim, một của đạo diễn Hà Lam làm trước đây, và một của đạo diễn Nga làm dịp này), triển lãm các sổ tay, tài liệu của nhà thơ, hội thảo về thơ anh. Đặc biệt từ câu thơ của Boris Ryzhy “Đi về quá khứ tốt nhất bằng tàu điện” người ta đã làm hai toa tàu màu da cam, in lên thành toa trích đoạn thơ, và đọc thơ anh khi tàu chạy trên phố. Trước đây một công viên nhỏ tại Yekaterinburg đã được mang tên anh.
