BREAKING: AWFUL! Trump’s goons pull people OUT OF LINE at their citizenship ceremony based on their country of origins, denying them the American Dream after DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT!
The Trump administration continually insists that they “just want people to come here the right way” and to do things legally — but this is clearly a lie, as a new set of rules from USCIS have led to people on the verge of citizenship having it yanked away from them due to naked racism.
This includes literally being pulled out of line at their citizenship ceremony. One woman, a 50-year-old Haitian woman who has lived in the USA for nearly two decades, recounts how Trump’s thugs asked everyone what country they were from and pulled them out of line if they gave the wrong answer.
“One of our clients said that she had gone to her oath ceremony because she hadn’t received the cancellation notice in time,” said Gail Breslow, executive director of Project Citizenship. “She showed up as scheduled, and when she arrived, officers were asking everyone what country they were from, and if they said a certain country, they were told to step out of line and that their oath ceremonies were canceled…People are devastated and they’re frightened. People were plucked out of line. They didn’t cancel the whole ceremony.”
Others were alerted by email or text message that their citizenship was just arbitrarily canceled, after all the hard years of work and the staggering amount of money paid. “One person was, you know, asking … what did I do wrong? Why is this happening to me? And, you know, needed to be reassured that it wasn’t anything she had done. This wasn’t her fault,” Breslow said.
It’s hard to imagine anything crueler than to let good, hardworking people get so close to the finish line only to have it torn away due to the disgusting bigotry of Stephen Miller and Donald Trump.
This is a travesty and a defilement of everything that makes America great.
